What is Ninjutsu and the Ninja Kids Program?

The Ninja Kids program and Ninjutsu juniors are non-competitive and non—sport orientated martial arts programs developed to provide primary school aged children with the skills, confidence and understanding of the principles of self defence.

Benefits of the Ninja Kid Program:

Our programs are designed to develop coordination and timing, flexibility, balance, and fitness, whilst also developing skill and technique. The training provides a platform from which to teach children discipline and respect for others, patience,  and responsibility, and provides children with an understanding of how to avoid and manage conflict, such as bullying.

Training aims to further improve levels of concentration and focus, confidence, self-esteem and motivation, and provides children with and understanding that through perseverance comes achievement.

Structure:

Classes are flexibly divided into two groups arranged according to age.

Yatagarasu ninja kids: Children aged 5-8 (grades 1-3)

Ninjutsu juniors: Children aged 8-12 (grades 4-7)

Training:

Classes run for 45-55 minutes and focus on development in the following key areas:

  • Warm up, including kamae (posture), ukemi (rolling and falling), balance and breathing;
  • Awareness, Self defence/foundations of budo taijutsu; and
  • Flexibility and development of knowledge.

Achievement:

With each completion of a term Yatagarasu ninja kids program children will be awarded certificates of merit detailing their achievement. In addition, with the completion of multiple terms children will be eligible to undertake gradings and subsequently be awarded a higher rank designated by the wearing of different coloured belts.

Children training in Ninjutsu Juniors will be eligible to undertake gradings and may do so outside of the structure of the school year (terms). Gradings will be offered to students who have demonstrated a commitment to training, and  who possess the required level of skill to be awarded rank. Rank will be designated by the wearing of different coloured belts.
